The Equine Gestalt Coaching Method was developed by Melisa Pearce in 1989. She is a core founder of the movement of healing by horses. The method offers an experiential journey for the the client. The horse is a beautiful partner during the exploratory process. The integrative approach of the equine’s interaction combined with positive coaching, somatic guidance and the Gestalt method, assists the client in examining their life and choices made with a focus on designing a positive outcome for their life.

Gestalt is a German word that is defined as the sum of parts. Simply..."Wholeness."
Life has many moving and sometimes chaotic parts. Gestalt looks at and brings together all the many individual pieces as one big picture.
The idea behind Gestalt coaching is that we all have unfinished business caused by unexpressed feelings that are associated with distinct memories or parts of ourselves that we feel are not supported or accepted. You may feel resentment, rage, hatred, pain, anxiety, grief, guilt, and jealousy that are not fully experienced daily but lingers in the background. However, these emotions are carried into our present life and cause stress and other self-defeating behaviors.
Unfinished business will continue to cause issues until the individual has the opportunity to face and work through it.
The individual can free themselves and begin to grow exponentially. Self esteem and worth are key elements that the Gestalt methodology can assist with.
Horses operate in the present moment and therefore have little, if any, unfinished business. They are fantastic teachers for those of us striving to breathe in
the "Right Now" way of life in order to manifest our full potential.
As prey animals they have a heightened sensitivity to the environment for survival. Their innate ability to sense energy fields provides them the beautiful gift of reflecting our personal strengths and struggles. They are masters at intuition.
Insights through the joint work of a coach and a horse can be revealing and truly life changing.
The work is appropriate for people wanting to work on self-awareness and to get past unfinished business. Once we are fully present, we clean up what is making our life stuck. We are then able to take responsibility for our emotions and actions with more excitement, motivation and courage to live life the way we desire. Our journey will have increased compassion, humility, and respect for ourselves and others.
